Thought sacramental preparation wasn’t an option for your child?

Please reach out to the YFF office. They will talk with you individually about the goals you have for your child and how Ascension and the YFF team can create an adapted approach.

Meet our YFF Special Needs Teachers

Brooke A. Warlop:

Hello everyone! My name is Brooke Warlop and I am thrilled to be joining Ascension as a volunteer teaching faith formation to kids with special needs. I grew up in Shawnee, Kansas where I attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School from kindergarten through eighth grade, then moving onto Saint James Academy for high school. All throughout elementary and high school I was a peer mentor, working with peers who have special needs. This is where I truly fell in love with working with people who have disabilities. When it came time to go to college, I attended Kansas State University where I got my degree in Elementary Special Education. I am currently working on getting my master’s degree in Low Incidence Special Education. I work in my dream job as a special education teacher in the Blue Valley District. I am so excited to be a part of helping children grow in their faith and cannot wait

Megan Thomas:

Hello, my name is Megan Thomas. I attended Catholic schools from Kindergarten through high school. I went to Sacred Heart of Jesus  for elementary and middle school, and Saint James Academy for high school.  Throughout my education, I have always had a love for helping others. Starting in Kindergarten at Sacred Heart, I had a close friend who has Down syndrome. I knew I loved working around him and being his friend. Then in high school, I was a peer mentor for our life skills class. I enjoyed this so much that I decided to study Elementary Education with an emphasis in Special Education at Kansas State University. I just finished my first year of teaching, and I loved it so much. I am thankful for this opportunity to continue working with kids to help them grow in their Catholic faith.
