We made it out of the house on a Saturday morning with both kids to a Church talk we had no idea would actually be worth going to and would lead to conversation for weeks to come.
Sebastian D’Amico opened his presentation about marriage named “Holy Matrimony: Isn’t Baptism Awesome?” which led to a few question marks in our heads. After an hour of his speaking, we could see for the first time the beautiful connection only God could design to intertwine the sacraments of Baptism and Marriage.
We learned about how our Baptism makes us partakers in God’s divine nature and how that is important in marriage because we are witnesses of Christ to our spouse. We are the means of ordinary grace to our spouse.
After leaving this talk, we were given so much insight into what God envisioned when He created Marriage. We had more to talk about than the mundane day-to-day topics; rather, it created an opportunity to have conversations of substance about our faith. Together, we have pondered the mystery of God and taken what we learned into our daily prayer.
We are especially conscious of the impact parents have on leading their children in the Catholic Faith. We’re grateful that Ascension provides marriage enrichment opportunities that can strengthen the domestic church and also provides free childcare during the session. Yes, you read that right, free childcare, so you can finally pay attention to something happening at Church.
We encourage you to make the time to invest in your marriage and attend one of Ascension’s Marriage Enrichment opportunities.
