Ascension Catholic Church is pleased to announce its first “Live the Mass Retreat”. Our two-day retreat, which begins early on Saturday, April 15, and concludes with the 11:45 Sunday Mass, does not include an overnight stay.
In the midst of the three-year Eucharist revival, which was launched by the General Assembly of U.S. Bishops on the Feast of Corpus Christi on June 22, 2022, this retreat will offer members of our parish an opportunity to increase their understanding of the “Real Presence” in the Eucharist. It is through embracing the truth of the “Real Presence”, that we can renew our commitment to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and feel his peace and love through his presence, every time we pass through the doors of the Roman Catholic Church. A team of 17 Ascension Parishioners have assembled to share their love for this most sacred sacrament. Beginning in early December, they have met weekly to ensure that those attending will experience a life changing event. Every member of the team has participated in previous retreats or conferences that had a profound impact; thus, their willingness to invest considerable time bringing this retreat to YOU!
Study of the biblical and historical evidence of the Eucharist will be an important element of the retreat as will the role of the Old and New Testaments in the formation of the theology of the real presence. There will be an opportunity to discuss beliefs and obstacles to acceptance of the Church’s teachings. Scientific Eucharistic miracles that have occurred over the centuries will also be explored. The most important events of the weekend, however, will be the opportunity to experience the real presence of the Lord, surrounded by committed believers in the foundation of OUR faith, Christ present, body, blood, soul and divinity in the most Holy Sacrament, the Eucharist. The number of participants is limited, so register early to reserve your place at this important event.
