I had the opportunity this past fall to attend Christ Renews His Parish. This is a retreat that offers a unique opportunity for parishioners to deepen their faith and strengthen their relationships with fellow members of the Ascension Catholic community. This program provided an opportunity to grow in my faith, and make new friends within our parish. I would like to tell you a little bit about my experience, and why I hope to see you at the end of April at the next Christ Renews His Parish Retreat.
This past fall I heard about the retreat when a member of our parish gave a talk at the end of mass. I felt reluctant to go as every weekend always seems to be filled with soccer games, kids parties, and time to catch up on house chores. I decided it was time to take a step back from all the busyness of life and offer a weekend to God. The weekend allowed me to deepen my relationship with God through prayer, reflection, and fellowship.
Christ Renews offered me an opportunity to connect with parishioners and build new friendships. This retreat brings together individuals of all ages and unites us in our Catholic Faith. The fellow men who led and participated in the retreat helped to encourage and support one another in our spiritual journey. Our parish is large, and this program helped to make it feel like a smaller community. I am able to more easily get plugged into areas where I can contribute my time, talent, and treasure to support the parish’s growth and development.
In conclusion, attending Christ Renews His Parish is an invaluable experience for members of our Catholic parish. It provides an opportunity to renew one’s faith in Jesus, build new relationships, and deepen one’s commitment to the parish.
