Katie Kuckelman’s
Eucharistic Witness
I never pictured myself single at 33, and though I love third-wheeling with my parents on a Saturday night, this stage of life has led to many lonely weekend evenings. During the week I throw myself into school and my students, and I love every minute of it, but the weekend nights are where I lean into frustration with God. In a particular lonely season of life, I had been telling God my frustrations and He asked me to spend time with Him as I would a significant other. So trying my best to obey, I started being intentional about spending at least a part of my weekend in Adoration. At first I tried my rosary, then my journal, and then just “being with my Lord.” It was here where I found the rest that only He can bring. He was asking me to show my love language of quality time with Him by just “being.” If you’re new to adoration of our Lord in the Eucharist, or if you just want to deepen your relationship with Christ, I encourage you to enter into prayer and just “be,” soak up the silence, and let Him bring you peace.
