.How your support helps families:

Decent, affordable housing dramatically changes a family’s life:

  • The cycle of poverty is broken
  • Health, physical safety and security improve
  • Educational and job prospects increase
  • A sense of stability and dignity grows
  • Money is freed up for other essential needs

Information About Habitat For Humanity:

Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to build simple, decent homes and communities in partnership with God’s people in need all over the world using volunteer labor and donations. In fact, Church of the Ascension volunteers have been helping Heartland Habitat for Humanity to build decent homes and communities right here in Kansas City for the past several years, primarily in Wyandotte and Johnson County, KS.

Volunteering With Habitat For Humanity:

Volunteers drive Habitat for Humanity and people from all walks of life and ages are welcomed. Don’t have construction experience or building skills? No worries. There are many different ways to help out. You can help build homes, beautify neighborhoods by cleaning them up, volunteer at one of the Heartland Habitat ReStores, assist in the office, or even serve on committees and help with special projects that benefit the organization. Time commitments vary; some dedicate every day of the week. Others spend just a few hours each year. As a volunteer for Heartland Habitat for Humanity, you choose. All positions are a tremendous help that result, directly or indirectly, in the construction or repair of simple, decent and affordable homes and communities.
