Celebrating the Anniversary of Our Church’s Dedication 

Every year on March 2, we have the sacred duty and privilege of celebrating the anniversary of the dedication of our beloved church, which was consecrated to the worship of Almighty God on March 2, 1997. This annual observance is not merely a tradition but a solemn act of faith, reminding us that our church building is not just a structure, but a sacred place set apart for divine worship. 

The Significance of Church Dedication 

The Rite of Dedication of a Church is one of the most solemn liturgical acts in the Catholic tradition. During this rite, the church is claimed exclusively for God, making it a house of prayer, praise, and the celebration of the sacraments. Because of this, a dedicated church is to be used only for sacred purposes. 

The Dedication Crosses 

As you enter our church, you may notice twelve crosses affixed to the walls. These crosses are more than decorative elements; they symbolize the twelve apostles, who are the pillars of the Church. They remind us that our faith is built upon the foundation of the apostles and their witness to Christ. These crosses were anointed with sacred chrism during the dedication, marking the walls as sacred and signifying the everlasting presence of God within the church. 

A Call to Faithful Observance 

Each year, as we celebrate the anniversary of our church’s dedication, let us renew our commitment to upholding the sacredness of this holy place. 

  • We should strive to maintain an atmosphere of silence and prayerfulness, avoiding unnecessary conversations. 
  • Clothing that is worn should accord with the dignity of the Sacred Liturgy. 
  • Remember to always genuflect towards the tabernacle as a sign of reverence to the Blessed Sacrament present there. 
  • Lastly, phones should be silenced and other distractions minimized so that we can offer the full, active and conscious participation that the Church asks of us. 

By maintaining reverence, observing proper decorum, and participating fully in the liturgical life of our parish, we honor the God who dwells in our midst. Let us approach our anniversary with gratitude and joy, recognizing our church as a true house of God, dedicated for all time to His glory.
