Mary, Mother of God, Pray for Us!
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Happy New Year! As we begin a new calendar year, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. We call upon the Blessed Virgin Mary to intercede for our parish and for every parish household. Through Mary’s prayers and by the grace of Jesus, her son, may every member of Ascension parish grow in their love and knowledge of Jesus Christ. May the love of God reign in our hearts and in 2023 may we share that love, ever more, through our words and deeds.
I pray that, as a parish, 2023 will be a year of great blessing. As this new calendar year begins, I pray:
- that all parishioners will prioritize gathering around the Lord’s altar each Sunday.
- that as a parish we will reach out in love, even more, to those who don’t belong to any church, befriending them and inviting them to join our parish family.
- that we will be able to grow enrollment in our parish school and participation in our parish youth faith formation program.
- that marriage and family life will grow stronger and flourish in our parish.
- that those who support the parish by sharing their time, talent and treasure will continue to be generous, but even more, that those who have not embraced stewardship as a way of life, will begin to make sacrificial gifts of time, talent and treasure to support God’s work being done through our parish and school ministries.
As we begin a new year, I wish to thank all of you for your faith in Jesus Christ, for your love of His Church and for allowing God’s grace to touch your hearts. I am most thankful to God for the many blessings He has bestowed on our parish community.
