March Letter

Hello all you amazing mothers! First an encouraging word: you are the ones literally giving life to this community, and how alive it is! Without further ado, here’s a snapshot of all the great things coming up this month for Ascension Youth!

Anna and I just wrote and assembled a 40-day Lenten devotional for all our teens and young people at Ascension titled FOCUS40. Inside are the daily readings, a reflection on those readings, the saint of the day and a brief reflection on that saint for each day of Lent. Our hope is that this aesthetically pleasing booklet empowers your kiddos to make the most of Lent and grow closer in relationship with Our Lord. There are still some devotionals available on the tables in the gathering space of the church, be sure to pick one or two up for your family!

Zoom (High School, grades 9-12)

For our high schoolers, we are wrapping up a series titled Witness led by our core team members where they share their testimonies. On Wednesday, March 18th, we will be starting a 4-week-series titled Wonder Bread on the Eucharist that will take us through Lent and all the way to Easter! And don’t forget about our summer trips Prayer & Action; be sureto sign your kiddo up for one of our weeks before all the spots are taken!

Looking Ahead: On Wednesday, April 22nd, we are taking a group of teens to the Valor & Virtue event here in Kansas City. This ecumenical event will open with praise and worship, and will be followed by a presentation from Fight the New Drug on the harmful reality of pornography and how it affects the brain. You are more than welcome to attend with your teens.

A2J (Middle School, grades 6-7)

In March, our middle schoolers are going to recenter their compass on Jesus Christ. It is so easy to get caught-up in relying on our own strength and understanding, but Lent is all about leaning on the Lord and resting in who He is! We are going to play survival of the fittest games and have a big spring break Sabbath party to reinforce these topics.

May God bless you this day and always!

Through Christ,
