Around the Diocese
Congratulations!
Announcement from Archbishop McKnight
I am pleased to share that one of our archdiocesan priests, Fr. Steve Beseau, rector/president of the Pontifical College Josephinum Seminary, has been appointed a Chaplain to His Holiness. This honor is a recognition of his faithful priestly ministry and his dedicated service to the Church.
Monsignor Beseau is a priest of integrity with a clear vision for the mission before us, and a deep love for vocations and the priesthood.
This is a great honor for our archdiocese. Please join me in offering prayers of thanksgiving and continued support for him in his ministry.

World Day of Prayer for Vocations
April 26, 2026
World Day of Prayer for Vocations
April 26, 2026
World Day of Prayer for Vocations will be observed on Sunday, April 26, 2026, also known as
"Good Shepherd Sunday." The purpose of this day is to publicly fulfill the Lord's instruction to "Pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest" (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2).
Please pray that young men and women hear and respond generously to the Lord's call to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, societies of apostolic life or secular institutes.
Here are some ways your parish can participate:
• Talk about vocations (perhaps yours) in your homily.
• Consider a rosary for vocations between Masses.
• Put a note in your Adoration Chapel asking for prayers for vocations.
• In your petitions, pray for (by name) any vocations from your parish, and/or use this one:
“For young men and women; that God may give them the gift of understanding to discern their service in the Church, the priesthood, diaconate, or consecrated life; and for the gift of courage to follow His call. We pray to the Lord. . .”
• Consider holding a Holy Hour for Vocations.

Totus Tuus Missionaries Needed
Totus Tuus is still accepting applications for Summer 2026 Missionaries—and we’re looking for a few more vibrant, faith-filled young adults to complete our team! We currently need 2 men and 3 women who are ready to share their love of Christ, serve parish communities, and bring energy and joy to this life-changing summer experience. If you or someone you know is eager to grow in faith, build community, and make a lasting impact, we’d love to hear from you!
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Archdiocese Kansas City in Kansas is seeking missionaries for the 2026 Totus Tuus team.
Missionaries will travel to parishes in the archdiocese, spending a week at each parish and running programs for elementary aged children during the day and teens during the evening. Missionaries share in Christian community with the parishes they are visiting, participating in events and staying with host families. Throughout their time with the community, they seek to give witness to their love for Christ and his Church and share their enthusiasm. The team also strives to create an authentic Christian community with each other: praying, working, sharing, and spending many hours together to provide mutual support.
This position is a temporary, two-month commitment (May 26-August 1, 2026).
This includes ten days of training and a one week break for the 4th of July. This is a great summer job experience for anyone who wants to work in ministry, education or with children in any setting. Applicants must be 18 or older (by May), have an authentic, dynamic Catholic faith and be actively living the teachings of the Catholic Church. One year of college/work is preferred, but willing to consider mature high school graduates. No major or area of study required. Application instructions can be found on the Totus Tuus page of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas website https://archkck.org/family-kids/kids-teens/youth-formation/totus-tuus/ under “For Missionaries.”
If you know of anyone who would make a great missionary, please encourage them to apply.

Way of the Cross
April 3 10am
The Office of Evangelization and Communion and Liberation (CL) invite all to join them in witnessing Christ’s presence among us by walking the Way of the Cross through the streets of downtown Kansas City on Good Friday. CL is a lay ecclesial movement recognized by the Vatican, founded in Italy in 1954 by Father Luigi Giussani. It exists “to
demonstrate the relevance of faith to the needs of life,” and has communities across the world, including Kansas City, Atchison, and Lawrence. We will start at 10 a.m. and end at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception KCMO, stopping to sing, hear the gospel and a spiritual reading, and pray. Bishop Johnston will give a blessing. The route is stroller-accessible.
