It's been awhile since I've been to Mass...
We’re so glad you’ve decided to come again. You may be interested in watching this demonstration Mass.
If you’ve been to Mass in the past, what sacraments have you received already? Baptism, Reconciliation, First Communion?
If you’ve been baptized, but haven’t received other sacraments, you’re still invited to attend Mass. We encourage you to reach out to Liz Willman (lwillman@kcascension.org) and learn more about OCIA and the sacraments.
If you have received your First Communion, you’re encouraged to talk with a priest to determine good standing to receive the Holy Eucharist.
I'm not Catholic...
The faith journey can be different from person to person. Even if you’re not Catholic, we welcome you here! You are invited to attend Mass, but not receive Holy Communion. During Communion, you may follow the line up toward the altar, cross your arms over your chest, and receive a blessing from the priest or minister.
We encourage you to learn more about OCIA and contact Liz Willman (lwillman@kcascension.org) if you’re interested in learning more about the faith and/or becoming Catholic.
Can my children come too?
Children are definitely welcome! We ask that if they have not received their sacraments that they refrain from accepting Holy Communion. They are welcome to follow the line and receive a blessing during communion.
If they are walking and between the ages of 1-4 years old, there is a nursery at the Sunday 8:15am and 10am Masses if you would like to drop them off there. That said, they are still welcome in Mass, too. There is a cry room on the right side of the church that you can pop in and out of as needed with your children.
If you have school aged children and they are not enrolled in Ascension Catholic School, they can attend Youth Faith Formation. Contact William O’Leary (woleary@kcascension.org) for additional information.
